The Sterling Miracle Players' Acting Camp will be held this June through July for Grades K through 9 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Sterling. Children will be involved in learning all aspects of producing a show, such as costumes, stage makeup, set design, and more. Western Sugar Company is holding a community meeting in accordance with Resolution 2016BCC35. The first meeting will be held May 23rd, 6PM-9:30PM in the Assembly Room of the Morgan County Administration Building, Floor B(Basement), 231 Ensign Street. Anyone interested is encouraged to attend.
Registration Deadline for the 4H & More Summer Camp is Thursday, May 26th. The camp runs from July 10th- July 15th from 9AM-3PM for kids ages 8 to 13. The program is designed to teach kids the importance of living a healthy lifestyle while having fun! Each session consists of kids preparing their own healthy snacks while learning about nutrition & participating in different physical activities. The City of Holyoke is excited to announce they are hosting Rockies Skills Challenge on Saturday, May 27th at the city ball park. Registration begins at 9:30AM. Free to boys and girls ages 6 to 13. Winners advance to sectionals with a chance to advance to a Colorado Rockies game!
The City of Yuma & Yuma Public Library will be closed on Saturday, May 27th & Monday, May 29th in observance of Memorial Day.
The City of Sterling will observe Memorial Day on Monday, May 29th. Because of the holiday, there will be no trash collected on that day. Trash normally collected on Monday will be collected Tuesday. Trash normally collected on Tuesday will be collected on Wednesday. The schedule will return to normal the following week.
Nutrition For The Young Athlete webinar for parents is Tuesday, May 30th from 6PM-7:30PM in the Holyoke High School Auditorium. Note that due to NCAA recruiting rules, no high school athletes are allowed to attend with their parents. The recording will be shared with student-athletes at a later date.
Lifeguards needed! The Sterling Recreation Center has job openings for 20 new, reliable, and respectful lifeguards. They are offering American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Classes Tuesday, May 30th through Thursday, June 1st. There is no cost to attend if participants work at the Rec Center upon completion. Register for the summer reading program at Akron Public Library on Wednesday, May 31st from 12PM to 5PM. A library card is required to participate in the program. Parents must accompany children to registration. Activities will be held every Wednesday, June 7th through July 12th. Prizes will be given out. Remember, the more you read, the more you win!
The City of Sterling Recreation Department is currently accepting registrations for the 5th Annual Perry mason Co-Rec Tournament. Fee is $150 per team. All proceeds will be used for updating the City's Girls Wildcat Softball equipment. Deadline to enter is Wednesday, May 26th with games beginning June 2nd. Re-1 Valley School District is participating in the Summer Food Service Program May 30th through July 27th. Hospice of the Plains is holding their 18th Annual Benefit Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 3rd at the Wray Golf Course. Registration begins at 8:30AM, shotgun start at 9AM. Kid's Fishing Clinic hosted by Jackson Lake State Park will be held on Saturday, June 3rd from 9AM to 1PM. Kids can learn to fish at the inlet of Jackson Lake which will be stocked with trout before the event. Fishing rods will be available to use for free. The clinic is free but a parks pass is still required to attend.

Weldon Valley Warrior Youth Basketball Camp will be held on Monday, June 12th and Tuesday, June 13th from 8AM to 10AM at Weldon Valley School Gym for boys and girls entering grades 5 through 8. Cost is $25 for first child, $20 for each additional. The camp will be teaching the fundamentals of the game, fundamental drills, as well as playing competitive games.
Blue Horizons and Brush Rotary present "A Little Dose of Horse Sense," a horse camp for children ages 10 through 12 who have had no experience with horses.
