Lone Star FFA is holding an Oyster Fry, Member Sale, and Item Auction on Friday, March 24th. Dinner begins at 6PM, auction at 7PM. Tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for children 6 and under, may be purchased from any FFA member or at the door. Auction items include 14 hard-working members, 10'x10' shed, fire pit, dog house, tailgate bench, processed and wrapped pig, and much more!
The Town of Akron will be holding a dog and cat clinic on Saturday, March 25th from 9AM to 11AM at Akron Fire Hall. Dog and cat licenses and shots are available.
3 on 3 Basketball Tournament will be held on Saturday, March 25th at Prairie High School in New Raymer. Boys and girls in all divisions are encouraged to participate. Planning on planting new trees in your landscape this year, but need help on the best practices for a successful planting? Colorado State University’s Morgan County Extension is offering a Tree Planting Workshop in Fort Morgan at the Extension Office on March 25, 2017 from 9 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. This workshop is aimed to provide attendees with information regarding planting trees to help them have a successful experience. Topics covered will include how to plant trees including digging the hole, backfilling, watering, soil fertility and amendments, proper staking of newly planted trees and the proper care for bare root trees. The workshop is free and open to the public however pre-registration is requested for planning purposes. Registration deadline is March 22, 2017. Wray Volunteer Fire Department will be holding a Firehouse BBQ Competition on Saturday, March 25th. Come celebrate our 100th year anniversary with great barbecue and live music. We are challenging all barbecue enthusiasts to come see who is truly "King of the Grill". If you think you have what it takes, entry fees are $75 per team if signed up by March 15th or $100 per team after. Meat will be provided. All you can eat barbecue is $15 for adults, kids 12 and under eat free. Dinner starts at 5PM with dessert auction beginning at 7PM. Overland Trail Museum's Family Fun Saturday, "April No Foolin", will be held on Saturday, April 1st from 9AM to 5PM. Visitors will be introduced to famous individuals who have visited Sterling throughout the years. An April Fool's Day craft project for the kids and fun facts will also be included. A Matter of Balance program begins Monday, April 3rd at the Morgan County Extension Office. The program consists of 8 sessions meeting from 1:30PM to 3:30PM on Mondays through May 22nd. The program uses group discussion, problem solving strategies, and simple balance exercises to help older adults develop positive coping skills to prevent falls. The City of Sterling is accepting registrations for Girl's Wildcat Softball Leagues. This league goes by participant age, not their grade. Individual registration forms are available at the Sterling Recreation Center and at City Hall. Fee is $30 per player for all divisions. Registration deadline is Wednesday, April 12th. Northeast Health Fest will be held on Saturday, April 29th from 10AM to 3PM at Sterling Middle School. Health Fest is a community event to encourage citizens of Sterling and the surrounding area to lead a healthier lifestyle through education and promotion of local goods and services. Activites include trade show with local vendors, keynote speeches by local professionals, physical therapy advice, free sample yoga class, and more. This event is open to the public and free admission.

The Tabernacle Experience is coming to Trinity Lutheran School in Fort Morgan. From Friday, May 5th through Sunday, May 14th, a full replica of the Tabernacle of Moses will be open to guests as 1215 W. 7th Ave. in Fort Morgan. This fully interactive exhibit has 7 stations that lead visitors through an Old Testament journey that is formative as well as informative. Visitors are welcome Monday through Friday from 1PM to 8PM or Saturdays 9AM to 8PM and Sundays 10AM to 8PM, $5 contribution. Reservations are recommended.
